A Letter from Stacie Gilmore

Dear Friends,

As we wrap up 2010, I want to thank each and every one of you for your support of Environmental Learning for Kids.

The past year has been amazingly full. Full of fun, adventures, and hard work. In 2010, we welcomed new youth and families, staff, board members, and partners. Our two new staff members, Cindy Chang and Matt Crouse, brought with them different skill sets and expertise that expanded our programs and infrastructure. Kim Glatz, ELK’s Education Coordinator celebrated her 5th anniversary with ELK. Five years is a long time in a child’s life, and she has been vital in the transition of ELK kids from adolescents into adults! We said good-bye to one VISTA volunteer and welcomed ELK alum Chiquita Cole to our staff. We also had ELK alum Hugo Valdez join us on staff while on break from the National Parks Service. Along the way we have said good-bye to some board members and welcomed others onto the Board.

Growth has always been exciting at ELK and we continue to embrace both the benefits and challenges that it brings. I know that 2011 will bring with it much prosperity, new opportunities, and, of course, hard work. We always need people who are dedicated to improving children’s lives through education and providing them with experiences that will create lifetime memories.

Please consider giving a year-end gift to ELK. It’s the only way we can continue to expand our circle. There is always room around the campfire for one more to share the warmth and friendship of people working towards a common goal.

The campfire is warm and there’s room around the fire for you!

We look forward to you joining the ELK herd in 2011!
